Autism Awareness Featured on Radio Show with EKU's Dr. Shirley O'Brien

To mark Autism Awareness Month, EKU Online Instructor Dr. Shirley O’Brien was a featured guest on “Eastern Standard,” a public affairs radio program that airs on NPR affiliate WEKU.  autism-awareness-otd-online-degree-eastern-standard-image

O’Brien’s background includes previous work with advocacy for children and families, school-based practice and pediatrics. She currently teaches in the online OTD program for EKU's Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy Department.

Other guests included Patti Parsons with the Kentucky Peer Support Network and Melanie Tyner-Wilson who is a board member with the Autism Society of the Bluegrass. The group joined host John Hingsbergen to discuss autistic individuals and the impact an autism diagnosis can have on families and communities.
